We'll start with the exclusive Page Maps sketch (that comes with each Bigger and Smaller kit.) We all know my love of sketches. I use them over and over and below is why that works. Change of papers, change of photos and you get a different look. Scrapbooking is a creative outlet, plus it's fun to recall moments and occasions, why muddy the waters by struggling with layout after layout. Sketches, people. Sketches.
Here is Basic Grey's PB&J line, that was in the Bigger July, 2012 kit. The designer stuck fairy true to the sketch. She opted to use a scalloped circle in the upper left corner, where she moved her title to. She added an additional photo in place of the journaling block, and then equal sized patterned papers where the journaling would be, to balance the additional photo.
The designer used Authentique's Glory line for her take on the sketch, where she uses two less photos. (The Glory line was also in the Bigger July 2012 kit.) Otherwise, her layout follows the sketch. She has a title on the right, but the "4th" could also be a title or an embellishment.
Jenni Bowlin's Wren, from the July, 2012 Smaller kit, helps with this take on the sketch. The designer opted for a different shape in the upper left - this time a simple circle, embellished with flowers. She has six photos, instead of seven; using a larger photo on the bottom in place of two smaller ones the sketch shows. She also used a larger photo on the right side.
Pebbles Let Freedom Ring, from the Smaller July, 2012 kit, makes an appearance on this sketch layout. This layout is almost the sketch - a star making in appearance in the upper left corner. You might not notice it, but the sketch shows the 2-page layout is matted. That idea is carried out here by masking off the middle and adding glitter around the edges.
Now, the Card Kits don't come with sketches, color instructions, yes, but not sketches. However, this card from the July, 2012 kit, shows off the major element from the sketch - the grid layout.
Unless you plan on putting five layouts together in your album that use the same sketch, I doubt anyone will ever notice when you re-use a sketch. Even if you use it over and over. And even if they do, what, are they gonna complain to you for doing so, shut the album and refuse to ever look at it again? Or are they just gonna see the moments and occasions and love you put into it?
Yeah, I thought so.
Happy Thursday,
